Definitely Epic... But Extremely Expensive
Definitely loved the event - it was so much fun - and the booths and vendors were absolutely awesome. But the tickets and the food were extremely expensive. Also, as our "The Matrix" cosplay (Neo, Tri...nity, and my OC "Zya"), we wanted to meet Gina Torres since she was from "The Matrix" (Cass), but we had no idea that it would cost $60 for either a picture or autograph - not even for both! Even though it was expensive, though, we had a great experience and lots of fun. Leer más

Good first experience
Let me preface this by saying I only went Saturday (around 1-2 PM) and Sunday (arrived around noon.) I thought Saturday was busy but pretty normal for a 3-day con of this size. On Sunday, attendance ...on the show floor blew me away. It was definitely tough to move around as much as I would have liked. I do not have any attendance figures. I did like: the Star Trek panel with Burton (Geordi), Dorn (Worf) and Sirtis (Troi). I did like the people in artist alley, not just artists with their own Etsy shop and stuff for sale, but also big names like Bill Amend (Foxtrot), Bob McLeod (co-creator of the New Mutants in the 80s), Denys Cowan (artist for the Question in the 80s, one of the founders of Milestone in the 1990s), and Jim Steranko (big Marvel guy during the 60s and 70s.) On one hand I was glad to see them and thank them; their work made me laugh, made me love comics, and so on. But on another hand I was sad to see that they still had to hustle for work and pay; McLeod, Steranko, and Cowan made great characters and stories, but it just made money for Marvel or DC, not themselves. Ideally these folks would get the recognition and money they deserve. They should be off sipping cocktails on a beach somewhere. Cosplay was cool, but pretty common: you go to a con and you're always gonna see a Spider-Man or a Deadpool or some Jedi/Sith. Didn't see a lot of unique cosplay. Compare that to a smaller con like Great Philadelphia Comic Con where I saw Black Knight, Star-Spangled Kid, Black Lightning, and other B- or C-list characters. Not to downplay anyone who put time and effort into their outfit. I have exactly zero cosplay skills. Have to give a special shout out to Queen and Rook Cafe, their team there was definitely friendly and very receptive. I mentioned to one guy that I'm a disabled nerd and he assured me that their cafe would be ADA-compliant. My disability doesn't affect mobility but I appreciated the information. I loved my panel, had good attendance, tech went off without a hitch, staff kept me and my co-panelists advised of time. I didn't get to many other panels; the panel on the Question was canceled and I had really been looking forward to it. My panel was Sunday 2-3 and by the time I stopped taking questions and talking to folks it was about 3:30. Wandered around the show floor again 'til 4:15 or so, left when the con was still in full swing despite there being maybe 30 minutes left. I would have liked to see more variety in artist alley. I could buy prints all day, but I'd also like some nerdy ties or socks or clothing items. I would have liked some more promotion of the artists as well Leer más

Promising Signs of Improvement
Keystone Comic Con is a new show and will continue to improve with each year. The differences between this year's show and last were good and noticeable. The flow of ticketing, layout of the exhibit... hall were improved over last year. The ReedPOP team are patient and constantly striving to improve the experience with each new edition of their shows. I liken this to the early years of NYCC-they invest in tools to make the shows better and they listen to the fans and professionals. My involvement this year was as a guest speaker/moderator. We had the very first panel of the show and the attendance was approximately 60 people-which is rather exciting for the very first session of any con. I'll be coming back next year. Leer más

Strategically Superseded.
The story for ReedPOP this year was to top their inaugural event. They did so by acquiring the appearance of the hottest name in MARVEL STUDIOS and SONY right now in Tom Holland. With Holland being ...the headline panel for the event along with The Voices of OVERWATCH panel, Harry Potter Panel, and many more it led to many fans from Philly and outside of the city to come and enjoy a great weekend of fun. Added to this you had staff and volunteers work very diligently to accommodate everyone who attended this year. One only inquires how will they top what they did this year? Well, that is the intrigue of it all. Looking forward to finding out in Aug of 2020. For now, cheers to the great work of all at Keystone! Leer más

My First Time and Did Not Leave Disappointed
I tried to go to Keystone Comic Con 2018, but I got held up on some personal issues. However, having learned to take the train, I found the experience to be a lot easier than anticipated. Naturally th...ough, there were some things to get around like trying to find a shortcut through all the crowds. Not to mention, trying to find the entrance to the place where the event was at. But that's a minor nitpick. Inside the center though, I found a bustling area full of eager fans and creators. Not to mention a comic shop that sells its stuff at a discount. I could only go on Sunday, but it was well worth the trip. Meeting acclaimed creator DMC even provided some material I used for a blog post about musicians as comic writers I have on my website: https://gutternaut.net/2019/09/musicians-and-comics-its-not-just-another-medium/. The panel he and other creators featured on was also a good time to sit down on. The bounty of comics I got from those creators was definitely worth time and money. Maybe I should invite a friend next time as well. Leer más
