The US is facing a huge challenge in modernizing its ageing infrastructure to meet the demands of a growing economy. However, the scale of this transformation surpasses the financial capacity of federal, state, and local governments. Public-private partnerships (P3s) offer an appealing solution. By combining the public sector's vision with the private sector's capital, expertise, innovation, and resources, P3s can turn this immense challenge into an extraordinary opportunity for creating resilient, efficient, and future-ready infrastructure. In his first term, President Trump emphasized the need and potential for P3s in infrastructure and took initial steps, though progress was limited. His... second term could bring renewed efforts, creating new opportunities for advancement. While enabling legislation exists in over 36 states, the US has yet to fully realize the vast potential of P3s in greenfield, brownfield, or even operational projects. Investors such as pension funds, sovereign wealth funds, and insurance companies, who are seeking stable long-term returns, are ready to invest in infrastructure, just as they are doing in other parts of the world. So, what is holding back the world’s leading economy from becoming the global leader in P3s? How can the US expand its P3 potential? What role will financial institutions play? To address these questions,InfraUS is excited to announce its inaugural conference Financing Public-Private Partnerships in Infrastructure, scheduled for March 27, 2025, in New York City. The conference will explore the opportunities, challenges, and strategies for funding P3s in the US. It will bring together financiers, investors, private developers, public agencies, legal consultants and other stakeholders to discuss pathways toward a new era of infrastructure development—one that leverages the full strength of public-private collaboration.Read more
