The Social Shake-Up 2026

One of my favorite moments was connecting with a group of professionals in the same industry to compare our social media programs. I wish there were more opportunities like this to connect with people... within my industry. The Movers and Shakers Award wasn't really even a blip on the screen at this years event. Enjoyed my time learning what I'm doing right and what I should stop doing

I have attended this conference for a few years in a row and it has gotten worse each year. It seems the speakers don't talk about the subjects they're assigned to in their breakouts and very little (...if any) actual teaching happens. In honesty, I think I only attended two sessions with a speaker who talked about how to do something. Everyone else just said stuff like "tell a story" and "be authentic"--the type of general stuff you read blog posts and Google regularly. This conference used to be attended by social media managers from big brands as well so the networking was awesome. Now, it's only attended by random social media managers and the only big brand presence you can find are the speakers--who are much harder to network with. The show also doesn't let agency representatives speak unless they're sponsors, so if you're part of an agency, you won't hear any insights to help you with your clients and work.
