There were some helpful and appropriate topics at the Friday seminars, but some were so full one couldn't sit. With the number of (independent) travel agents in attendance, it may be helpful to have t...alks catered to them as many of the talks I went to ended up focusing on them. Mehr lesen

I’ve had the pleasure of appearing at the NYT Travel Show in one form or another since its inception. My only suggestion is to enhance the relevance of some of the speakers during trade day. The media... panel felt particularly dated and was not as effective as it could be. I’d be happy to help craft the one for next year. Thank you Mehr lesen

Having attended many travel shows as both an observer and involved participant, I had high hopes for the NYT Travel Show. I was looking forward to several of the panels and discussions as well as talk...ing with brands and destinations on the show floor during industry day. The panels were not what I'd hoped for. While there were some eloquent speakers, there wasn't much in terms of either grounds breaking journalism ideas or engaging discourse between media and travel brands. The impression of the three panels I attended was all very much current-state focused without much call to action on anyone's part. In an atmosphere full of active journalists of all sorts, full of marketing professionals from diverse destinations and brands, there was a huge opportunity to set into motion effective conversation about where to guide media coverage and marketing promotion, but it was stagnant. Interesting to hear people talk about print, family travel, LGBT tourism... but I left without inspiration, ideas, or new connections. The showroom floor was very well set up and beautifully orchestrated. During the industry hours where journalists and agents were able to Merry face to face with travel brands and destinations, very free representatives were prepared to have any sort of conversation outside of a standard sales pitch. It felt as though those working the showroom booths didn't know that industry day was happening and that we were all vacationers looking for a fun new place to visit. Despite how harsh this sounds, I did enjoy the event and the overall presentation of the NYT Travel Show, but I wouldn't recommend it it return next year. It didn't hold enough value for me as either a journalist or consumer. Mehr lesen

The NYT Travel show was a great opportunity to see how tourism is growing in different parts of the world. It was a good time to showcase different aspects of each community.
