The con is well run and clean. A continuing and improved focus for local creators would improve the experience.

I'm going to break this review into two parts - pleasure and business development. First off, I feel HeroesCon is a MUST for anyone who enjoys comics and wants to have access to a ton of artists and ...signed content. I would say 99% of them were extremely pleasant to chat with and more than happy to sign anything you had. I stayed away from the bigger names only because of the lines but even "the lines" weren't all that long. I found the isles were spread out where there was plenty of room to use and even the staff was very helpful. The auction I thought was a bit rough, as a bunch of people came in who were drinking and the doors were open, making it really hard to hear and concentrate on the art being auctioned off. Next year, I'd have people at the door asking everyone to be quiet. If they want to talk, there are literally 2 lobbies they can hang out in a stone throw's away. Other than that, I honestly can't wait to go back again next year. As far as business development is concerned, it wasn't all that great but NOT AT ALL HC's fault. I"m going to write that again, just to make sure everyone knows - IT'S NOT HC's fault. I'm looking to bring more talent to my platform but the talent that attends these events are there for one real - SELL COMICS. So, while I took the time to chat with a lot of them, most of their focus was elsewhere - and I severely underestimated this. I can only assume this is the way it is with most of the bigger shows, as it costs a bit more to attend, which means artists/publishers have to sell more in order to make up for the ROI. Anything outside of that goal, unless you were one of the bigger publishers who DOES want to create business opportunities, was null and void and honestly, just a waste of money on business cards and time. It wasn't all wasted, as we did bring on a handful of content creators from that weekend but if anyone wants to try and create opportunities with these guys, the show floor is not the place. My background is in the gaming world and at conventions (PAX, TwitchCon, etc.) the content creators want to chat with you, mainly because they are there to promote - sales come off-site - so if you are bringing them a pitch that can help their brand, they want to hear about it. That is partially what they are there for. What I would like to see is a mixer where business people like myself can actually chat with content creators who want to hear about opportunities for their brand - where the need to sell is put to rest for the day. That way, I'm not bothering them on the floor but I have their attention and can answer all of their questions without feeling rushed. Now, you'd have to actually find creators who are business savvy enough to think they could use help, but promotion from within and making a big deal about it would help immensely. And I'll already tell you, a panel probably wouldn't help. The people I want to talk to are on the floor selling - they won't come to a panel which could take away from their profits.
