This event provides such a wonderful opportunity for people to share and learn from each other. As social media managers, we are usually the only ones in our positions in our areas/offices. It can feel very isolating because people don't fully understand our job experiences and the stress of managing social media accounts. At SMSS, I realize that I am part of something so much bigger than myself and my organization. It is such a validating experience. I highly recommend SMSS!

Social Media Strategies Summit - Higher Education was an outstanding event.  The content was great and the networking opportunities were outstanding.  I learned several things that I have already begun to put into action back home.  Also, I did not expect to to come away with a feeling of validation.  What I mean by that is that challenges I face at my institution are not unique to me. We are all facing a difficult landscape and it was great to come together and discuss those challenges and ways to combat them moving forward.

The Social Media Strategies session in NYC  2019 was phenomenal. It exceeded the expectations far and beyond in terms of the quality of content and even the facilitators. The main takeaways from this session which may be valuable for InvesTT were:

•       The Social Media Content Strategy- it provided useful ways to assist you in generating truly creative and engaging written and visual content and to organize it to be more engaging to your target audience.
•       Boosting your employee advocacy  via LinkedIn and how to build an effective influencer campaign
•       How to develop your brand voice
•       How to create personas for your organization
•       Free tools to assist your marketing efforts
•       Evolution of new social platform like TikTok
•       Up-leveling your social team- Components of today’s top brands most successful team.

All in all, this was extremely beneficial for our marketing department, as some of these key learnings will be be implemented into our overall marketing strategy.

Lastly, this summit reiterated that the social media landscape is advancing and organizations have to be ready to evolve with these changes, in order to be successful.
